Two New Bloggers

25 Feb 2008   posted by: Chris Weimer   tags: blogs and blogging

I’d like to welcome two new bloggers. One you saw a couple of days ago, Peter Kirby, who you may know from his sites EarlyChristianWritings, EarlyJewishWritings, and the now retired Christian Origins blog.

The other is Bryan Cox, who’s old blog Biblaridion you might remember, and who is currently volunteering his time at the CSNTM. Let’s please welcome these two new co-bloggers.

Welcome, gentlemen, to the team! I somehow missed Peter’s debut the other day.

Thanks for the welcome, Chris. Just to clarify, I volunteered my assistance in collating a couple of the many manuscripts photographed by Dr. Wallace and CSNTM. Doing so has provided me some wonderful learning opportunities for which I’ve very appreciative. Anyway, I’m glad to be here, and I hope I can come up with some interesting, if only occasional, contributions.

Welcome aboard, both of you. Post when you feel like it.

    Bryan,

Were you in the class this last semester, or just been volunteering?

Hi Eric. I’m just volunteering. I worked with Greg (whom you may know) some time ago on a collation, and I have just recently volunteered again. Many students think collation is boring (or so I’ve been told), but I find it interesting and rewarding. There are so many things one can learn through the practice, from palaeography to orthography and codicology. (By the way, we still ought to meet up some time for a chat.)

By the way, Eric, I like your new blog, especially the layout. You probably do, but do you know what the “theme sign” on your blog represents and what follows it? Just a fun little quiz… :-)

Of course I know what it means :) As I’m sure you notice, I also have it at the beginning of posts. I’ve been meaning to get the site to inject it’s companion at the end of every blog post to close everything off. Figured that would be cool…in a totally Greek geeky sort of way.

I’m not sure I ever explained on the blog what that marking meant. I’ll be sure to do that.

And yes, collating is fun. And anybody who does much of it, especially in minuscules, will find that marking pretty often.
